How much does a StudentCheck background check cost?
Each school and program has its own unique needs and requirements, so the best way to get your background check’s price is to contact your school or program director. They should provide you with a detailed instruction sheet that will indicate the price.
How long does each search take?
A background check typically takes 3-5 business days to complete, and turnaround time of drug screening results, if included, is determined by a variety of factors.
How do I get started?
Go to www.MyStudentCheck.com, select your correct school and program from the drop down menu. Complete all required fields and hit Continue to enter your payment information. The payment can be made securely online with a credit or debit card. You can also pay by money order, but that will delay processing your background check until the money order is received by mail at the PreCheck office. For your records, you will be provided a receipt and confirmation page of your background check order placed through PreCheck, Inc. PreCheck will not use your information for any other purposes other than a background check. Your credit will not be investigated, and your name will not be given out to any businesses. Is my personal information secure through StudentCheck?
YES, absolutely and without question. PreCheck’s StudentCheck is a 128 bit VeriSign secure website. Under no circumstances will PreCheck divulge or sell any of your information to any third party. PreCheck places our highest priority on the privacy of our customers and the security of their information.
How do I check on the status of my report?
Go to www.MyStudentCheck.com and click on the 'Check status' link from the left menu, you will get redirected to a Check Status screen where you can provide your SSN# and Date of Birth, a list of all your background requests will be displayed with corresponding status. If you have additional questions, please contact us at StudentCheck@PreCheck.com.
How do I obtain a free copy of my report?
Go to www.MyStudentCheck.com and click on the 'Check status' link from the left menu, you will get redirected to a Check Status screen where you can provide your SSN# and Date of Birth. Once the status is 'completed' click on the application number to download and print your report. You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to download and print your report. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader, you may download the program by clicking here. If you have additional questions, please contact us at StudentCheck@PreCheck.com.
How do I obtain a copy of my drug screening results?
Drug screening results are currently not available online. To request a copy of your results via mail, please e-mail StudentCheck@precheck.com.
I can’t find my school or program. What should I do?
Your school program may not participate in StudentCheck online application at this time. If your school program is not listed, please contact your school program director for proper instructions or have them contact StudentCheck at 866-961-6587.
I do not have a social security number. Can I still submit my application?
Yes, you will choose “Other” under the Country of residence and then manually enter your Country. Please note that USA can still be entered if applicable. You will then have the option to enter a SSN, USCIS Form I-94 Number, or Foreign National ID Number (NIN), but are not required fields if they do not apply. You will not be able to check the status of your background check online because your results are linked by social security number. To request a copy of your background report, please e-mail StudentCheck@precheck.com.
How can I order or check my fingerprinting results?
If you are attending a Florida school and they have advised you that you require fingerprinting, you must refer to the Student Fingerprinting link on the StudentCheck Help Page. If you are also required to submit for a StudentCheck background check and/or drug screening, we recommend that you proceed with your order on www.MyStudentCheck.com, first, and then visit the fingerprinting page. If you only require fingerprinting, please go directly to the Student Fingerprinting link.
If you are attending a school outside of Florida and require fingerprinting, please confirm the proper steps with your school.
I mis-entered information. How should I correct it?
The best way to correct mis-entered information is to contact us by phone at 866-961-6587. Please do not create a second background check order.
Can I do a report on myself?
No, your background check must be ordered through your school or employer to ensure we meet their requirements. If your school is not listed, please have your school contact PreCheck at 866-961-6587 for instructions.
What is reported on a StudentCheck background report?
Background check components can vary depending on each school or program’s unique requirements. Please contact your school for their background screening policy.
I need to switch programs this semester. Can I use my old background report?
Please check with your school for their policy on transferring background checks between programs. Not all schools will accept a transfer. Once you have confirmed your school will accept the transferred background report, you can submit your request via e-mail to StudentCheck@precheck.com.
I selected the wrong package. What should I do to correct it?
Contact your school to ensure you are ordering the correct package as required by their policy. Once you have confirmed which package you need, you can request a change by e-mailing StudentCheck@precheck.com.
I am having trouble entering my Canadian zip code. How can I complete my application?
If you live in Canada or have lived there previously, please enter your school’s zip code to bypass our online system.
How can I get a copy of my receipt?
Please call PreCheck at 866-961-6587 or e-mail StudentCheck@precheck.com to obtain a copy of your receipt.
Can I link your site to my organization's website?
Yes. You may use our internet address ( www.mystudentcheck.com)
Can we use your company for traditional employment screening services?

How long is my report valid?
Your background check can be accessed by your school indefinitely. Some organizations may require 're-checks' on an annual or semi-annual basis. The time frame in which organizations consider background checks to be valid varies depending on individual policies.
Is it important for applicants to be re-screened?
Yes. Considering a lot can happen in a year, many organizations require 're-checks' on an annual or semi-annual basis.
How do I provide my students with instructions for using your site?
Once you have signed up with PreCheck, our Client Services Manager will send you a student instruction sheet detailing the application and submittal process for the students.
It has been more than 5 days. Where are my results?
All aspects of your background check must be complete before results are posted for review. Also, some components such as employment and/or professional license verifications can at times take longer, as they are dependent upon the responsiveness and cooperation of the individuals being contacted for information. A contact that is out of the office, hard to reach, or does not promptly return our phone calls can result in delays. Drug screening can at times take longer, as it is dependent upon the specific site you visited, also. Please remember that 3 to 5 days refers to business days and standard business hours; weekends are not included. If you have concerns regarding the time period that has elapsed, please contact us at StudentCheck@PreCheck.com to check your background report’s status.
I sent in a money order for my background check. When will my background check be run?
When we receive your money order request via mail, we ensure it is for the correct amount, then immediately start processing your report. We will not begin processing your report until the money order is received. It is very important that you use current email address when you submit your order since this is the only way to receive communication from us. If you would like to check on the status of your report, please contact us at StudentCheck@PreCheck.com.
My package contains a drug test. I have already submitted my order online. What do I do next?
Once your payment has been received, you will be able to print out a receipt and will receive a confirmation email. Print that receipt or email and take a copy of it to the administrator that gave you the original instruction form. The administrator will provide you with a Chain of Custody form (the order form for your drug test) and directions to a drug testing facility. Once you have taken your drug test, results will be sent to your administrator within 24-72 hours.
Why will it not let me submit my report?
In order to submit reports, we suggest that you use Mozilla or Internet Explore 5.5 or later. If you do not have I.E., we have made it available for download on the left side of our StudentCheck screen.
