Recent reports estimate there are currently 1,660,290 different types of cancers in the United States and over 12 million worldwide. Cancer remains as the second leading cause of death in the U.S.—accounting for nearly 1 of every 4 deaths. Specifically, cervical cancer currently affects nearly 250,000 women in the United States and it is the culprit in over 4,000 deaths in the last year.

At PreCheck, we are excited to have announced the recipients of the second annual Hollie Frye Service Award, a company tradition that we instated in 2012 in memory of one of our beloved leaders and pioneer investigators. Not only was it a way to honor Hollie’s memory, but also to recognize our employees in the categories of job excellence, teamwork, and customer service. As a healthcare exclusive background and employment screening firm, taking great care of our clients is our top priority, because we know how it can impact quality of patient care.

Last week, I traveled to Nashville, Tennessee along with a few of my colleagues for HealthStream Summit—an annual conference empowering healthcare professionals to achieve better outcomes in the delivery of patient care. Patient care and safety is what drives everything that we do at PreCheck, which is why we’ve partnered with a company like HealthStream that shares our core values for impacting healthcare.

The PreCheck team gathered amongst hundreds of walkers, elite runners and volunteers at this year’s 23^rd Annual Susan G. Komen Houston Race for the Cure 5K run. We were more than proud to support two of our bravest members who have recently been affected by this deadly disease – Rhonda Kellum, our Client Services Lead and Gloria Satcherwhite, Sr. Human Resources Generalist/Compensation Analyst.

To promote awareness and action throughout the month of October, we at PreCheck have kicked off our very own "Sign Your Name" Campaign. We want employees to show their support and to remember those they've lost, root for those they know who are currently fighting the battle and praise those they know who have won the fight against breast cancer. This is an issue that is very close to our hearts at PreCheck, which is why we are kicking off October with this campaign.

What’s all that ruckus you ask, well PreCheck’s been celebrating.

The American Nurses Association has established National Nurses Week as an annual recognition event celebrated from May 6 through May 12, ending on the founder of modern nursing Florence Nightingale’s birthday. This year, PreCheck would like to join the ANA in recognizing the dedication and passion that our nation’s nurses share in positively changing patients’ lives through their work. We salute them and appreciate their hard work and commitment to health care.

Since beginning her career at PreCheck as a Client Account Manager more than ten years ago, Dana Sangerhausen has contributed to an energetic company culture that represents the pinnacle of excellence and adaptability within the healthcare and human resources industry. “I have the privilege of waking up every day knowing that I am a part of something meaningful,” she declares.

In honor of Healthcare Human Resources Week, PreCheck reached out to our partners through Social Media to find out their perspective on the Human Resources profession in the healthcare industry. For Black History month we wanted to take time to highlight one of our favorite employees at PreCheck, our president: Bruce Butler. Bruce has been working in healthcare since 1982 (over 30 years) and has a lot of experience and wisdom to impart to today's healthcare professionals.
