Inaugural PreCheck Pulse Healthcare Employment Screening Trends Report Reveals Screening Challenges

PreCheck’s new survey indicates healthcare organizations struggle to meet the industry’s screening standards.

Houston, Texas – October 11, 2016

PreCheck, a background screening and ongoing monitoring firm specializing in the healthcare industry, today announced the release of its inaugural PreCheck Pulse Healthcare Employment Screening Trends Report. The report of hiring and screening practices surveyed more than 800 healthcare professionals on their organizations’ background screening practices.

The inaugural report highlights how healthcare organizations are challenged to meet the industry’s emerging screening standards.  The survey covers how healthcare organizations handle exclusion screening, drug testing, criminal background checks, healthcare license management, and physician screening.

Key findings include:

  • While most (70%) of respondents say their organizations check the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE), more than a third (34%) say they run this check only at time of hire.
  • Only about half of healthcare organizations surveyed actually conduct drug testing on physicians.
  • An overwhelming number (85%) indicate they run criminal background checks only at time of hire.
  • And when it comes to license tracking methodology, more than a quarter (27%) indicate they rely on spreadsheets to monitor their staffs’ professional healthcare licenses.

“Our inaugural PreCheck Pulse Healthcare Employment Screening Trends Report offers screening best practices and trends specifically for healthcare employers,” Bryan Barajas, Marketing Director at PreCheck, stated. “The report reveals critical healthcare specific screening program data and provides insights to help care organizations strengthen their personnel screening initiatives.”

From background check policies and exclusion screening practices to emerging physician trends, the inaugural PreCheck Pulse Healthcare Employment Screening Trends Report provides industry specific screening information for healthcare organizations.
